Lighthouse

Post by 1lankest » Sat Aug 24, 2019 2:41 pm

I have a poem - Rover - in the forthcoming issue 20 of Lighthouse Literary Journal. Chuffed to bits.

Thanks for the help, all.

Well done, Luke! Lighthouse is a good thing to be in.

I've moved it into Finishing touch, just to be safe - here: http://www.poetsgraves.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24040&hilit=rover - in case anyone wants to read it now.

Cheers

Actually, I see now that I didn't notice this poem when it first landed (sorry!) here. It's very good. I only wonder why you chose Aldrin rather than the better known - and slightly more pioneering - Armstrong.

Geoff said It has a kind of "morning has broken, like the first morning" vibe - exactly. I completely get that.

Congrats again.

Good question, David.
The key idea in the poem is that being the absolute first to experience a place, or a even a moment, a sensation, isn’t important. It’s to experience at all that matters, through your own senses, in your own time. Hence Aldrin, not Armstrong. Plus Aldrin sounded better - assonance with ‘morning’!

Does this make sense?

I'm late to this, Luke. I enjoyed it first time round and like even more, now. It's so inviting and the close is SO BRILLIANT!!

I loved that overwhelming, sudden rush of passion.
