Walking in the Fells

Post by Elphin » Fri Jan 09, 2009 10:35 pm

He still strides
the rubble top tor,
his chosen discourse
with Mars, Thor
and the other gods, halted;
but only to contemplate
which stone, if dislodged,
might bring the schist down.

Very impressive tribute, the pause at halted, then the powerfully uplifting conclusion. This is no time for critique just praise for such wonderful tributes.

Yes, things do live on and they inhabit the space they did before. I love this, Elphin.

You've captured a lot in a few lines, even without the tribute side of it, I love the way the mighty discourse is interrupted by the mundane musings about stones. It feels almost haiku like in the way the content unfolds.
Good stuff :)

I enjoyed the poem. Short but very much to the point, Can only offer praise this round.

A little gem, Elph (awful pun intended, needless to say)

Barrie was better than Wikipedia when it came to the old mythology..
