Extinctions in the yellow wood

Post by Firebird » Sat Apr 21, 2018 5:19 pm

For each decision taken
there’s a path left behind

a cul-de-sac
in the evolution of the mind.

Hi, Tristan

A touch of Frost, methinks, yet it is clearly your own.
Firebird wrote:For each decision taken

a cul-de-sac
in the evolution of the mind. ...I've been down a few dead ends in my time. With a bit of luck you'll find your way through the yellow wood eventually.
Enjoyed this short poem. Nice little thinker.

Best

Spot on JJ, a touch of Frost indeed it is. I liked the idea ‘of my mind left behind’, and all the extinct versions of myself. I also liked the idea that our development may be random, hinted at by the random process of evolution.

I don’t really think there’s any way out of Frost’s yellow wood.

Many thanks for commenting JJ.

Cheers,

Tristan

I like it. Why yellow wood? You could urbanise it and go for "estate of the mind".

Why yellow wood?
It's in the first line of Frost's poem.

I like it but it would be good if the poem added to the sentiments of the Road Not Taken. There doesn’t seem to be value added here...it is just a homage to Frost - and a nice one - but true invention?

Enjoyed the poem Tristan. The decision/evolution coupling pointed me towards conscious choice rather than a random outcome.

Like the title.

life rather than path...too melodramatic?
