Which do you prefer

Post by Mic » Thu May 28, 2015 2:08 pm

thrill or ear?
(& with your lips again, pressing)
blue or horse?

As a slow light rains through
pinpricks in evening's dark
onto us

onto the urgent grass,
you ask is it mouth or stone
cowslip or round, legs or star?

Bamboozled me mic, but I'm intrigued! The first choice I guess to be about participation or observation. The second question, blue/horse, between intangible and tangible led me to think of percepton and the individual defining meaning. By the last set of questions I was in the meltdown of Sartre and I was lost in what was meaningful or not or how the individual gives meaning in the random. There is a thread - ear/lips/mouth/pressing/urgency - that suggests an intimacy. I guess :D

I prefer the middle verse - it's asking no questions. a slow light rains - very nice. I assumed sexual intimacy at first, then I wondered if contemplation of a statue were what it was all about.
is it blue or horse? - takes me out of the poem each time, mostly because I don't imagine there are any blue horses.
I'm out of faith and in my cups
I contemplate such bitter stuff.

Perhaps you are right Ray...mic is mixing elements of an art work in this piece.
