South Shields Surf (SSS)

Post by JJWilliamson » Tue Mar 13, 2018 11:16 am

This is a follow up painting to "Red Flag at Trow Rock". I took several photos from the same beach on the same day, so you might find there are some similarities, if you saw the first painting. Anyway, I'm really happy with this one because it looks so familiar to me.

Please remember to click on the image for the full picture.

Now this brings the drama of the ocean JJ.
The waves ever changing as they bombard their way to the shore,
shamelessly belting out their salty sea song. The seagulls are mere backing singers
screaming to be heard.
THIS is the childhood thrill of Trow Rock you described and I so wanted to feel.
You’ve nailed it JJ.
I can look at Red flag and think there is not a huge difference, re palette and scene, but the subtle changes you have made have anchored your memory of Trow Rock .

Yes, there are similarities, but this one is on a larger canvas. I'm in the process of revising the front wave on " Red Flag". You live and learn.
