Love, Yer Yer Yer

Post by Amadis » Tue Jun 30, 2020 12:40 pm

There’s one thing I Do know
We’re Like Lennon and Yoko
There’s nowhere we won’t go
I’m yours, I’m a will show
So how will it all go?
I don’t care I don’t know.

I Don’t Care, that I don’t Know.

Hi Amadis,
a jaunty little number :)
I don't understand 'a will show' (is it the opposite of 'a no show'?)
and it bumps in a couple of places.

Just a thought

If there's one think I do know
we're like John and Yoko
been yours from the get go
there's no place we can't go
so how will it all go?
Who cares? Long as we go
together. Right now

don't care that I don't know.
don’t care that I do know
long as we come together
...

Regards, Not

Hey, don't do a better song than mine!
I was gonna get all the girls with that one :)

More seriously: "A will-show' is a common phrase in some places. It means just what you thought.

Phrasing and meter was what I was playing with there.
The 4-4 Beat of pop-songs.

Except for the last line, that was just a kind of Full-Stop, the outro.

Hi Amadis

Hey, don't do a better song than mine!
Apologies (it is such a fun idea) Don't know that
it's better though

I was gonna get all the girls with that one :)
Bit on the short side don't you think? Of course,
they say that size doesn't matter ... :)

Didn't know that about will-show (the context, and reading
'will' as a contraction, offered an amusing, if childish,
ambiguity.)

Phrasing and meter was what I was playing with there.
The 4-4 Beat of pop-songs.

Yes, I just thought that 'Lennon' messed up the rhythm.

And by way of a complaint, rather than a criticism,
it ends just as it seems to get going, any way
to extend it (one verse does not a song make :) after all.)

By popular demand, NOT, another verse to my silly song ;)
(Much respect to Italian song writers, rhythm is tricky in Italian. At least rhyming is easy)

c'è una cosa che so
siamo Julieta e Romeo
Tutti i posti, noi andremo
Sono tua, amore mio
Sta cosa succedendo?
Mi no interesso,
lo so non lo so.

Hey, Not, sorry I got distracted doing my translation thing.

If you are willing, I challenge you to verse for verse, like Aguas de Marco.
Now, I think, that there are 8 beats to each line, at least that is how I hear it in my head.
Perhaps it can evolve...

--Verse 2 Challenge--
I know a place that we all go
A crappy bar down in Soho
I’ll get some Molly and Loco
I’ll introduce you to Rollo
He owns the bar down in Soho
So please tell me you will go
--Verse 2 Challenge--

It seems you are playing a round of word association football league of nations.
Far be it from me, for it is too far and away out of bounds
To look the other wayward youth

We shall see through the eyes of our ancestors
we see further from the shoulders of our father,
but the vision is blurred by the shadow of aged care homes

So Homies Unite!
You have nothing to lose but your bondage trousers
should have been in the wash months ago
She’ll be with bairn soon, so grow yea beard.

Less than equal, we follow through
the mirror to the other side of life
beyond what we Ken
doll never sold well, couldn’t afford a camper

So you sea fairing little understanding in the rain
we are brought and sold to tell this tale
Nerverminding our thoughts of Cobain
nor the tracks of lives inside or without
Meaning.

Hi Amadis,
only just noticed this, but, challenge accepted.

I met her on a road down in Mexico
where the sad girls wait and the small men go
in the evening, when children are sleeping

She came up to me full of confidence
heedless of care or consequence
in the evening, when children are sleeping.

We walked down the street to a blue-green room
with a single bed and a quarter moon
shining too bright, she said it was our night.

No need to hurry, honey, take your time.
Time is what I took, time to make her mine
with a sharp knife, I took all of her life.

I met her on a road down in Mexico
in Juárez where women come and go
in the evening, their children are weeping.

It's possible that I may have got a bit carried away :)

Regards, Not

She kills people, you know
slices and dices in half the time
taken from their lives and mothers
milk of kindness, never crossed her
mind how you approach that man.

He’s a man of means, his woman a Slender
piece of work for a dollar or don’t work at
all seeing crew will take care to see
what no-one will ever know what
became the legend is only half what
the police found in the base is
Secure Mam, sir, situation nominal.

Snafu. Cutting Crew.
It must have been something
you said. Left for dead
on the b side of the highway
61 (and on) to hell with this.
Roadkill. Rattlesnakes. Me,
and a man and a gun. Born
to run, rabbit run. Oh, girls
just want to have fun.
But this is America.

More to come
we all get some
anger sometimes rises
the tail wags the dog
Magicians magic fails
sleep is over
accounts to tally
our sky is not our own
the body a fortress
made public knowledge
a scramble to the dirt
a quiet place to sleep
the new face looks back
not.

If Word Association Football gets a bit too muddy, you could always try some Tennis :)
