Staying Alive: Real poems for unreal times

How many poets does it take to change a light bulb?

Staying Alive: Real poems for unreal times

Post by Suzanne » Wed Oct 05, 2011 1:36 pm

Hi,

Are you familiar with the book? Do you have favourite poems within the pages?

I would be interested in hearing from you as I put together a very light review of the contents.
Please send me a pm if you are willing to help pick which poems to discuss.

It would be great to have a variety of contributors. Thank you.

Warmly,
Suzanne

Thanks to those who have sent me a handful of titles. I would love to hear from a few more people, if you have time.

Sorry, I missed this topic, and also, I can't contribute because I got Staying Alive from the library and managed to lose it - God knows - and had to pay £22. That's what Staying Alive did to me. I don't know. I've only just remembered the whole damage. I got it from the library like an addict, really needing it badly. And then that brick of a book just vanished, before I even looked at it. And I paid the library and went overdrawn and the bank charged me £25. Sorry, I'll stop moaning about it now, but I'm glad to have found an outlet for that particular grievance. :D

Wow, that's all a bit grim. Less 'Staying Alive' than 'Becoming Broke'.

Rosencrantz: What are you playing at? Guildenstern: Words. Words. They're all we have to go on.

Come on, you and you, please send some of your favorite poems from the book. (Yes, you, too, B.)
Thanks to those of your who have already done so.

AND ouch calico!

Glad you got that off your chest though. You are welcome to discuss the poems without the book , of course.

Warmly,
Suzanne

have not purchased staying alive as it was not in my local bookshop- by local I mean 2 hours away- downside in living in the remotest part of Co. Donegal.

As much as I don't miss the city, I must admit I do envy those who are close to shops!!!!

I did buy "Being Human" which I believe is the third collection of the series.

I would love to contribute to any poems posted, but cant suggest any myself.

Maybe we will move on to "Being Human" later down the line!!

Regards

Vincent

Vincent,
I will have to google Donegal and see where you are. Sound interesting. Simple and slower than the city, I'd like that.

You are welcome to join in anytime, of course.
There is a great poem posted now and if you have not read it before, it is a treat.

Glad to hear from you, welcome,
Suzanne
