Too many people on the hilltop
We fray into the future, rarely wrought
Save in the tapestries of afterthought.

Ah, but if that was you (or I), in solitary splendour ...

Lovely. The walker's standing on the head of the lion on Helm Crag's most famous rock feature, The Lion and the Lamb. From a distance it looks like a small lamb sitting between the front paws of a large male lion. There's Grasmere, overlooked by the flanks of Loughrigg Fell, a hint of Windermere and Esthwaite Water lurking in the background, and if you look carefully at the small white building to the left of the lamb's shoulder, you're close to Dove Cottage.

Never been personally.

JJ, I was sure you would say that you were a regular visitor. I'm wondering whether I might make it there this summer.

Cheers

Ah, yes, I remember it well. ...Apologies to Maurice Chevalier and the cast of Gigi.

I have stood where the walker is standing and enjoyed the fantastic views over the bowl of Grasmere. Wonderful place.

Did you complete that coast to coast walk you mentioned? Is that later in the year?

Just doing the first half this year, JJ. We know our limits. In July.
