For the 100th post of this miserable thread, I offer you a moving and educative walk through a Canadian ghost town. It probably won't elevate your mood but it will probably take you away from your miserable Christmas existence. For this you will need an hour to an hour and a half, and I suppose drinks. But I think it's the best real internet work of art I've ever seen.

My tenuous connection to Pine Point is that for five years I worked for the company that used to (effectively) own the town; but that was more than 10 years after Pine Point shut down.

A couple of technical points:

- Don't forget to click through the photos where a gallery is offered.
- Near the end there is a gallery of videos. Be sure to watch each one - they're short - as most are superb.

I think that has to be the most amazing and immersive experience I've had on the internet k-j. I thought that I'd have a quick look now and save it for when I had a bit more time, turns out it was so hypnotic I did have time after all.

Dark Star..another one I had completely forgotten about that frightened me in childhood. You need Pete+Dud after that.
(As I type this I am getting flashbacks connected with a Ray Milland film and x-ray vision).

Excellent choice Ant, I'm sure we've had the esteemed Mr. Roy around these parts before, but there's always room for him too.

I think it is, Nash, though the version I remember I think was on a re-run of a Pete and Dud show. Comic monologue on theoretical physics? Sounds great!

If anyone's missed the Royal Institution lectures this year, I heartily recommend them - best for years. All about the brain. Aimed at children, really, but very entertaining.
