New guy

Post by brianedwards » Tue Jul 22, 2008 7:50 am

Hi
My name is Brian. I'm an Englishman now living in Japan with my wife and 2 kids. I've been writing poetry for almost a decade. I also used to write short stories and screenplays, but time doesn't allow for much of that these days. The quality on here seems to be pretty high, so I hope I can add to that.

Cheers!

B.

We hope so too. Welcome, and please, continue diving right in. You're off to a good start as it is.

I'm from Leigh originally, but I'm living up in Kendal now.

Can you get black pudding in Japan?

I've been reading your monicker as brained wards, I've been trying to figure out what you meant by it?

Anyhow, welcome "Brian" nice to have you.

from the first two introductions i've read on these boards i must say that i'm alarmed with what appears to be the average age. it's discouragingly larger a number than i expected, and significantly more impressive a figure than my own. i thought the internet was predominantly occupied by restless teenagers.

nonetheless, you appear to be a beautiful man (in the beautiful world of japan). i look forward to reading your wonderful things.

Hi Brian,

We got off to a rocky start in the crits department -- without being properly introduced, mind you! -- but never mind, these things generally take care of themselves over time. Whereabouts in Japan are you living? I'm in Shizuoka, about halfway between Tokyo and Osaka on the coast. The city is called Hamamatsu. It's a great place to live (well, we're trying to keep that a secret!) and I was about to say the place is really cool -- except it isn't cool at all these days, but sweltering steamy hot along with the rest of summertime Japan -- as you probably well know! Anyway, welcome to the Graves and I look forward to seeing some more of your stuff. You had a right go at me over one of my last pieces (appallingly bad) but it didn't bother me much -- I always think the next poem is going to be The One. Ha! Onwards and upwards -- ars longa, vita brevis.

Cheers,
Brendan (dedalus)
