Re: Bubulcus Ibis

What a magnificent bird!
It's what they call a cow-egret or cow-crane, isn't it?
A lovely picture it is, too.
Looks rather exotic (the flowers as well); where is it - I mean, where in the world?

Re: Watching you . . .

Pauline, Ian, Seth & Jackie -- thank you!

Yes, it's hiding, watching, cautiously on its toes. A tiny critter.
If my memory serves me right, this character plays a bit-part in a little story I wrote long ago.
Any way, it can always be re-used. Good idea. Could be fun.
Thanks again!

To me it looks more relaxed than rough, though. :)

Yeh, a longish wait, that. But at least it came through successfully at last.
So:
Congrats, Seth!

My own personal record was a little over five months - plus a whole year until publication.

I've had a few non-responders too. Pox on 'em.

Ian, it's just that he's selling optical appliances as well as barometers. Comprehensive salesmanship.

Quiet.
Pass the ammo
and look the other way.
There'll be time enough for countin'

Silly catflap, snipe feathers and everything, marvily enjoyable! Will this be the format to bring the unknown out in us all?

Look now:
the optical
barometer salesman.
He ain't got no feckin' juju
eyeballs.

Ahhh. This is fun; I had never really realised it could actually be done.

(on rereading STC:)

the breeze, the sails
dropt down
. We knelt on deck,
hostage to the deep dark droning
songlines.

chrome-pearled,
hushed, she dived in,
swirled, jived to spin the world,
then blushed to see its foam-hived grin

Congrats, Ros! Those two of yours are lovely; and the hints of mysteries that lurk behind them.
I do agree with you in what you say about Angle: varied and interesting.

Many thanks, Seth, Mac and David!

Sinister stuff, Pauline! But really good.

I especially like the picture; that viaduct and the murky landscape has an almost tangible chill-thrill effect.
And the foaming abyss below ...
Dystopia indeed.

Re: Faced by rejection . . .

I'm not sure I wanted the food for thought picture in my head either! Many of the editors running these mags are female...not sure where to... Yea, of course it's a silly little piece, but I fell for its surprise-amusement, and the absurdity. Ach well, my censor-fumer may be a tad addled at times. ...
