Re: INVITATION

Thanks David!

If your location in your profile is accurate, then yes, I'm north of you, so north of the north sounds reasonable. We'll forget that I'd have to go through the rest of Co Durham, Tyne & Wear, and negotiate the wild and woolly white cattle of Northumberland before reaching Scotland.

watercolour seascape

One of an occasional series in which I try to crack watercolour painting, my least favourite medium. I'll get there eventually.

If you stand far enough back and squint it nearly works.

Re: INVITATION

Thanks for the responses Jane and Seth, and sorry you won't be able to come. Jane, I have three novels out at the moment, though one of them is due to go out of print any minute so I'm giving it a complete re-write for its re-launch by a different publisher next year. I also have a solo poetry colle...

INVITATION

You are all cordially invited to the launch of my latest novel SERPENTINE at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday, 11th July at 7:30 pm. This is a free event (including the wine). I appreciate many (most) of you live much too far away to even contemplate coming along, but people from forums have b...

Re: Iphone Polaroids

I'm not convinced by the software. First photo looks wildly over-egged. Second is a nasty colour. Third is a fine photograph, but would have been one anyway. :?

That's very good. Tremendous solidity to the figure. Much said in few lines.

Re: A pot of gold

hehe - no, I'm not drawing you a pot! The thing is, the pot you've done only works if one assumes it's triangular at the top and bottom. That would allow for all the straight horizontal lines at the front, assuming there's a flat, vertical plane facing the viewer. If, on the other hand, the pot is c...

Re: A pot of gold

The flowers are an absolute delight. The pot doesn't really work because the perspective's wrong, but you could always crop it off (and change the title).

Yes, he really does seem to have that line down his forehead, though it was probably exaggerated by the expression in the source photograph.

Ray Bradbury

My own small tribute to a very great writer. I first read his stories in my teens and was bowled over. One of the seminal reading experiences of my life. I've been influenced ever since. And of course he was not only a very great writer, but a very great human being as well. He will be sorely missed...
