Hello again

Hi all,

I'm actually an old member, but seeing as I haven't been on for nearly 2 years, I though I should re-introduce myself. I look forward to sharing this space with you people!

it comes and goes

i was wondering if anybody else is like me here. basically i seem to go in spells of writing poetry, i can leave it alone for something like a year and then be bang on it for about six months. a few phrases and such have been buzzin round my mind recently, so i figure its that time again.

Hi Tim, hows life?

As usual i've dissapeared for a while, but im back now and no suprises youve been prolific the whole time through.

This was a good organised piece, and the finale was a lovely turn from the rest.

Re: One half of a conversation(revised)

nice one tim,
liked the title, i find often half makes up the whole in conversations involving myself. the only thing i dont like was the line "lust masquerades as trust" - admitedly my years are few but ive not yet found this ever to be the case

Re: These Distances

hi phil thats funny, a few days ago i was trying to write a poem expressing almost exactly these ideas! (unsucsessfully) - this one reminded me of the bob dylan lyric "we're just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind". really inventive and well written. as for constructive crit: verse 1 ...

Re: Black and White

Arun, thanks for your interest, and bringing up the typos :) S2 line 4 - I thought it was quite nescesary, maybe the meaning isnt clear enough there. i had it before as "without a name to follow it up" or something. Ray, I didn't notice the "withs" so thanks for that. I'd actaully changed the second...

Black and White

As writers of poetry, I think once in a while we might cut the form some slack, consider for a minute what it feels like to be in it - how it feels to be the reel of black, packed onto immaculate white pages. Might you feel embaressed introducing yourself to a stranger, extending a hand with the wor...

Re: Hotel

brendan your irish aint ya? anyway, i really admire the way you write. something so easy about it, and considering most of your stuff is pretty lengthy it is thoroughly void of superfluity. the first two lines grabbed me, and i wasnt released until i'd breathed the last line. encapsulating. cheers h...

Re: Tight Lines

Jimmy, this is seriously good. reminds me of a quote i heard from woody guthrie, cant find it right now. but it was a similar notion to yours, that all the good stuff is there, and someones just got to tune in or cast out and its theirs. really expansive thinking. i think this is your first thing iv...

Re: Human nature

its arun isnt it? yeh like tim said a poignant message here. your capacity for short poems is exceptional. teach me! the part you changed from the original seems a bit rushed. i agree it needed changing but as i say, "You will never be accused, possibly" doesnt sit right with me. As usual you have m...

A nice recollection there Raisin (what is your name?), if i had to say one bad thing about it, i feel its a little one dimensional.
If i had to say one good thing the last few lines are cracking
